About this website: technical information

• The site is maintained using Microsoft FrontPage 2003, designed for screen-size 800 pixels wide. It is tested for successful operation using MS Internet Explorer v6, and Mozilla Firefox v1.5
   
• The image galleries are generated using Picasa from Google. Images on the site are compressed and will not print in high quality - if you want to print a better image ask me to email you the uncompressed image
   
• The family tree is maintained using Brother's Keeper v6.2 and Family Historian v3
     
   
• The family tree section of the site is powered by TNG (The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding), a PHP application designed by and copyright of Darrin Lythgoe of Sandy, Utah USA. TNG serves family tree pages dynamically from a MySQL database.
   
• The forum is served by Google Groups. This provides a 'layer of independence' from e.g. the forum application provided by the site host (GoDaddy)
   
• Two domain names were registered for the site:
     drjamesmurdoch.org, and drjamesmurdoch.com
  Both URLs will bring you to this site. I chose the .org domain because the classification is accurate to the purpose of the site, and the .com domain because many people naturally, but erroneously, assume a .com domain for everything.
   
• The site is hosted in USA by GoDaddy Group Inc.
